  • Matt Leara, DVM

    Veterinarian
Dr. Matt Leara was raised in a small town outside St. Louis, Missouri.  He graduated veterinary school from the University of Missouri, College of Veterinary Medicine.  He immediately moved to Denver, Colorado and worked at a large, 10 doctor small animal practice for the next 6 years. It was at this job that he met his future wife, and together they gained invaluable experience developing their medical and surgical skills.  They helped the practice become a Veterinary Economics Hospital of the Year award winner.  In 2004, they moved to San Diego, California, and were happy to be a part of another Veterinary Hospital of the Year award winner.  After 5 1/2 years in San Diego, they had the opportunity to follow their dream and purchase a practice.  They look forward to building Animal Clinic of Honolulu into a premier hospital that exceeds the standards of care for your four legged family members.  In his spare time, Dr. Leara enjoys watching and playing sports, especially baseball, golf, football, and basketball.  He enjoys hiking, camping, water sports, and many other outdoor activities.  At home he spends his free time with his wife and 2 young daughters.  Following close behind will be Beau, a 9 month old Golden Retriever, and Leia, a 10 month old Schnauzer mix.

    Technician Staff

K just started at Animal Clinic of Honolulu in May of 2017 and feels she couldn't have found a better environment to gain experience, skill, and knowledge for her future in animal medicine.  Her long term goal is to become a veterinarian so she can make a difference in the lives of our furry friends.  K was raised in a very non-traditional way by her grandparents and aunties in Southern California.  Since moving to Hawaii, K and her boyfriend Matt have started to collect a 4-legged family of their own--they have a cute puppy named Honi and a mouse named Mel.  K fell in love with climbing in 2013 and has become a happier and healthier person as a result.  Very few things frustrate yet inspire her as climbing does; for her each climb is a personal journey, and she has met many incredible people associated with the sport.  She one day hopes to enter the realm of elite boulderers but only time will tell.
